Vagner Rocha retained his Fight Time Promotions Lightweight title by defeating J.P Reese with a rear naked choke 2:18 into the fifth round at Fight Time 14 “This Means War” on Friday, April 26 at the War Memorial Auditorium.
“Just going out there and mixing it up,” said Rocha after his fight. “This fight that’s what it was all about, mixing my fight and making it a mixed martial arts event.
Fight Time 14 marked the first time Rocha has defended his belt since becoming champion back in November at Fight Time 12 “Warriors Collide” with a second round submission victory over Mike Bruno.
“Great war here tonight,” said Rocha of his title defense. ”I’m glad to be here with Fight Time defending my title and getting some more W’s.”
Yosilandy “Cuba” Izquierdo came out with a bang during his Fight Time Promotions debut, knocking out his opponent, John Morehouse, 18 seconds into the fight. Izquierdo went into Fight Time 14 coming off of a loss to Rafaello Oliveira at UFC 148.
Joe Johnson was one of the other story lines at Fight Time 14. Johnson, who is 47 years old, defeated Davaun McKoy, who at 21 is 26 years younger than Johnson, by unanimous decision.
